I actually am from Pakistan, born and brought up here, but yes, I have spent a few years in the states, so I do feel I'm much more fluent in English than in Urdu. I actually stutter more in Urdu. I need to practice that. I'd be happy to meet you. I'm sorry but i didn't catch it...do you stammer as well? I haven't been involved in education counseling...do you mean counseling for colleges abroad? |

Hello Jullia! I watch you speaking on Dawn last night and I must say that you can be a great example for the stammeres all over as you mention that you had gone through the same situation. The way you speak is simply adorable and sweet enough that no one can ever get tired of.
I believe its the first blow which can really help the stammerers to gain their confidence and play with the same rhythm...

Ammar, I'm not sure how much help I can be as far as colleges in the states go. I have some idea but by no means im a fit to be a "counselor" for it. But sure, if you have any questions, just email me at j.irani@pakistanstammering.org and I'll help in any way that I can.
We don't have an "office" in pakistan. We're just a two person team right now hoping to expand, but as of right now, we dont see a need for an office. We have just started holding regular support group meetings at Avari Towers in karachi for Persons who stammer (PWS) and soon we'll start that in Islamabad as well. Dear Imran,
T-t-thank you so much for your kind wwwwords and encouragement! :) It really helps my confidence because to be honest I was very nervous about being on tv, in fact I think it was easier doing the interview than it was to watch myself on national television last night hehehe. I just hope that this is a step forward and gets people to talk more openly about it. It is so much easier for me to accept myself as someone who is working on my speech than trying to be fluent. :)

Hi Shakeel, you can simply join us by staying in touch with us and attending our support group sessions if you can. In karachi support groups sessions have started, I'm trying to start them in Islamabad soon. If we get someone attending our support group sessions for a while, he/she can probably set up a network in Lahore as well. But that's gonna take time as we are still in our very early stages. So keep in touch and let us know what problems you are having, if you are a stammerer. Take care! |
