Thanks so much for your kind words Rupesh. :) The Inidan stammering association is doing quite well too - I'm not sure if you've checked it out: indiastammering.com
Also, if you're in the states, and would like to get involved with the stammering community, you can check out nsastutter.org and of course the McGuire programme that helped me so much, www.mcguireprogramme.com
Thanks again! Julia |

Hi Julia,
I appreciate that you brought up Indian Stuttering Association and McGuire program. Yes, I have been around these sites (and many more) for while, and have learned a lot. I plan to attend McGuire course once I start working. It's really an awesome program. I recently read an interesting book by one of the McGuire's graduate, Michael O'Shea, "Why I called my sister Harry!" It's an autobiography of a recovered stammerer. It throws light on various aspects of stammering.
But if you were to read only one book, it would be none other than "How To Conquer Your Fears of Speaking Before People", by John C Harrison. It's simply AWESOME. Every stammerer should have a copy of this. It is a life changing book. If I'm not wrong, the McGuire course uses the stuttering hexagon in their program which was proposed by John Harrison.
There is another ebook(free) by Alan Badminton, a recovered stammerer, which is also very empowering. I tried searching in my inbox but I didn't get it. I'll post it when I get it.
Best,
Rupesh.

Rupesh.

Hey Rupesh,
Thanks for Sharing - I agree John Harrison's book is fantastic and yup the McGuire Prog does address the hexagon and how to work with it. I've had the pleasure of meeting Alan Badmington, in fact he's one of my most inspiring mentors and I've kept in touch with him quite regularly. He is such a positive and an inspiring person! :) I have heard of the book "why I called my sister Harry but I havent read it yet. I love the title - all the avoidances we live with can be quite humorous - I find it really empowering to laugh at myself and have a sense of humour about my stutter, :) Keep sharing! Thanks! Julia
