Pakistan Stammering Association

1st Support Group Meeting in Karachi a success!

The Pakistan Stammering Association held its first support group meeting in Karachi. It was a fun, animated meeting with three persons who Stammer (PWS). It was a dynamic group of different ages, and experiences of course. Despite the differences, we were able to use the common understanding about what it was like to live with a stammer as a strong base to develop some close bonds and very high levels of understanding. We shared experiences, laughed about them, shared what had helped us and what situations might be tougher for each of us.

The meeting ended with a boost of confidence after each of us used this environment as a practice ground for public speaking. Each of us stood up, and presented to the group, and I know I felt a great sense of confidence and gratitude for the support and encouragement I received from these wonderful folks! I can't wait until our next meeting!
