MOVING FORWARD TOGETHER

6th Support Group Meeting in Islamabad

The Pakistan Stammering Association held its sixth support group meeting in Islamabad on the 27th of April, 2008. .

Some people did not come after making committment as may be other issues are sometimes more important than your speech :)

Anyway we had one new member and we had a great time even being only 2 people there.

We went through the meeting plan which was the same as before, except that we combined the theme of the meeting and theme of the last meeting. The theme of the meeting was "Pausing". We did our best to follow the theme and had a great time.

Again, there were a few documents distributed among the participants.

1. Meeting Plan
2. What happens at a self-help group meeting? (Courtesy: Keith Boss, International Stuttering Association, UK)
3. Why the breathing?
4. What is a full breath and perfect timing?
5. What is pausing? 6. Information for adults who stammer (Source: British Stammering Association website)
7. Message to a stutterer, by Joseph Sheehan
8. Using the telephone
9. What is a Harrison's Workshop?
10. Challenges until next support group meeting

I would like to make a request - please even if you do not have to come, reply to me and inform me that you would not be able to attend. Please do this so that I can decide how many people would be coming and whether we should have the meeting according to schedule or should we defer it to the next weekend. (I know some of you informed me, I'm referring to those who didn't.)

I would especially like to thank the Serena Hotel Management for providing us a magnificent room and refreshments, all free of cost. Thanks to all the staff at the hotel, they were really helpful to us.

Hope to see you guys soon again and just keep moving forward!
